Buy Your Best Shoe
Femina - May 15,2003

Susil S Dungarwal, Customer Care Executive and Chief Manager ( Development and Operations ), Lakewood Malls Private Ltd, which runs the The Loft, that massive shoe store at the Haiko Mall in Powai, Mumbai, has guideline on buying shoes:

*Shop at stores that have knowledgeable sales people.
*Buy footwear between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm; this is when your feet are their largest.
*Have your feet measured by a salesperson. Different stores have different sizes.

Stand up when measuring your feet. You need to check the length and width of each foot size can change with age, weight and other factors. Your feet may be different sizes; measure both, and buy shoes to fit the larger of the two. And never buy shoes based on size alone; always try them on!

*For closed shoes, get shoes that are a bit big for you. Also, tighten or loosen your shoelace for just the right feel
    - not too tight , not too loose.

*Fully lace up the shoes and walk around the store. Always buy the pair you have tried on. Spend at least three minutes wearing the shoes before you buy them. There should be about 1.5 cm between the tip of your biggest toe and the shoe end.

*Avoid wearing the same pair every day; this will help your shoes last longer.
