Cleaning & Polishing your shoes

Leather

To protect leather shoes, choose a liquid, cream or paste form of polish. However it is better to use the cream and paste form, as liquid polish often dries out shoe leather and causes cracks.

Clean the shoe with a damp rag to clear all the mud and dust from it,

Next you can apply the polish in a circular movement with a dry rag.

Lastly it is necessary to waterproof your leather shoes, use protective sprays or creams that have bee wax as this protects it from water.

Suede shoes

The best way to protect your suede shoes is to clean them regularly.

A protective repellant needs to be applied regularly to protect them from water and other stains.

Solvent based cleaners or suede cleaning blocks can also be used to remove stubborn stains from suede shoes.

After that, you can use a brittle brush to gently discard dust and grime from your shoes.

Sneakers

Smack the sneakers on a counter to dust off all excess dust and then wipe them off with a damp rag.

You can generally wash your canvas sneakers with water and detergent.

Finally insert some brown paper into the shoe as this will absorb any excess water and then leave them to dry.
